Besides that fact that it’s coming from Rihanna, I was pretty excited about Fenty Skin. My excitement stemmed from all the Eco Bae vibes Rihanna was sending out. What really sold this for me was the thought she put into the packaging.
PACKAGING
Not only is the packaging recyclable, the moisturizer is also refillable! Or kind of. What happens is you remove the inside of the moisturizer and replace it with the refill. So it is not like a refill station situation but it’s a thought.
The packaging is also travel ready. How many times have you had to struggle to turn the nozzle which squirts extra product into your hands just to ensure it’s locked and leak proof. As an adult I’ll still struggle with locking the nozzle.
How about those plastic refillable travel size bottles that never seem to last long. Fenty Skin has made traveling with these products simple. All three of the products have a twist head which closes and opens! This saves money, time and wasted product from trying to get it into those cheap plastic refillable bottles. Just close your Fantasy Skin and go.
NO MORE WIPES
In Rihanna’s video tutorial, she made it clear that makeup wipes and cotton pads are a thing of the past. Fat Water is a thick liquid toner and serum combo that is easily applied from the your palms of your hands. The thickness of the liquid allows for it to stay in place and not a week everywhere like your typical toner. Therefore, there is no cotton pad needed because that wouldn’t be very zero waste of us. Just squirt the Fat Water in your hand and you’re fine.
Also, say bye bye to make up wipes! The cleanser is a duo of make up remover and cleanser. It gets the job done without the need for makeup wipes first. Besides, my esthetician says to always cleanse twice.
INGREDIENTS
Let’s talk about the moisturizer and sunscreen combo. Rihanna is an island gyal so she fully understands preserving the ocean. Therefore, the SPF in the moisturizer is coral reef friendly. We love to see it. You did that, go girl.
Speaking of ingredients, the exotic fruit in this is impressive.

So all in all I’m here for it. I love that she actually focuses on packaging and is very intentional with it being sustainable. No one and nothing is perfect but as long as we are all doing our part to try to preserve the environment, we can leave minimal impact. I applaud Rihanna for her intentions.
