There are a plethora of options when it comes to getting rid of old clothing that does not have to do with throwing them in the garbage. On the road to zero waste, clothing is probably amongst the easiest to recycle. Clothes are also the easiest to hoard as well! With spring equinox around the corner, spring cleaning is now in order. No worries, I’ve got you covered. See below for tips on how to get rid of old clothes.
Poshmark
Poshmark is my favorite because it is where I start with the first thought of getting rid of clothes I don’t wear anymore. It’s super easy to just take a photo and post it on the app. I’ve already made almost $3,000 to date from selling clothes I no longer want. They are always in great condition and fashionable. I’ve also purchased some essential pieces from Poshmark too!

Thrift Stores
Thrift stores like Plato’s Closet will purchase your clothes and shoes. They are a bit pickier with what they will buy and for how much. But this is still a great option if you do not feel like posting the items online and you want some quick cash.
Goodwill
Goodwill and other thrift stores are great if you just want to donate your clothes. I take my clothes here if none of the above options work out. You will not receive money but it is a tax write off.
H&M
H&M will literally take any piece of fabric. And I mean anything, from old dirty socks to ratty (clean) underwear to torn up leftover fabric from your makeshift crop top. They will also give you 10% off your next purchase!
Recycling your clothes can make you easy cash while also preserving the environment. I suggest trying either of these options when cleaning out your closet. Save room and the environment!
Happy spring cleaning!
